South Korean actors Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo have been cast in an upcoming Netflix K-drama titled Show Business (working title).

Today (February 10), Netflix announced both the production crew and cast – including Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo – of its new K-drama Show Business, which is set against the backdrop of the gritty 1960s and 1980s Korean entertainment industry.

The series is said to follow the “journey of individuals who, despite having little, dreamed of glimmering success and gave it their all”, per Netflix. Show Business will be written by Our Blues screenwriter Noh Hee-gyoung and helmed by Lee Yoon-jung of Coffee Prince fame . Netflix has yet to announce a window for the series’ premiere at the time of publishing.

The Glory star Song Hye-kyo has been tapped to play Min-ja, a resilient woman with a difficult childhood, who takes a bold leap into the entertainment industry. Starring opposite her will be Gong Yoo, who most recently appeared in Squid Game season 2, as Min-ja’s childhood friend named Dong-gu.

Other actors announced as part of the cast include Light Shop‘s Kim Seol-hyun, Cha Seung-won of Uprising fame and. The Fiery Priest’s Hanee Lee. Netflix has yet to announce a release window for the upcoming K-drama series.

In other K-drama news, Newtopia lead stars Park Jeong-min and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo recently opened up about their experiences working with each other on the series. “From the very first moment, the chemistry between us was great and it was easy to form a close bond,” Park said of Jisoo, describing her as “a wonderful person who never shows any signs of negativity”.
