Ibadan, Oyo State – Governors from South-West Nigeria gathered in Ibadan yesterday, amidst growing concerns over the nation’s security situation.

“We are here to discuss the security challenges facing our states and the country at large,” said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.

The meeting, attended by governors from Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, and Ondo states, focused on addressing insecurity, infrastructural development, and regional integration under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).

“We will fast-track development and strengthen regional cooperation to tackle security threats,” said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, host of the meeting.

The governors also reviewed ongoing security initiatives, including the Amotekun Corps, aiming to enhance its capacity to address emerging challenges.

The meeting comes as bandits abducted school children in Kebbi and Niger states, and worshippers in Kwara State, sparking nationwide concern.
