A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Dare Adeleke, has stated that the South-West zone remains solidly committed to the party, dismissing claims of defection as mere propaganda orchestrated by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
Hon. Adeleke, who currently serves as the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Ekiti State, made this known in a statement issued on Monday. He emphasized that the PDP in the South-West remains united, strong, and resolute in its mission ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We would like to make it known that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is still one, unbreakable party,” the statement began.
According to Adeleke, misinformation is being spread by elements within the ADC, aimed at causing confusion and weakening the PDP’s base in the region. He, however, urged party faithful and supporters to ignore such reports and remain focused.
“We, the loyal members of the PDP in the South-West, want to assure our members, supporters, and the general public that we remain committed to our party,” he said. “Despite external pressures and misinformation, we have resolved to stay united under the PDP umbrella.”
Adeleke further revealed that rather than losing members, the PDP is regaining strength, with many former ADC members returning to the party.
“In fact, many ADC members are returning home, and we welcome them back with open arms. We’re ready to absorb and reintegrate them into our fold because we believe in the power of unity and forgiveness,” he said.
He also used the opportunity to call for unity among PDP members, encouraging them to reject divisive politics and remain focused on the party’s ideals.
“As we look towards the 2027 elections, we’re more determined than ever to work together as one family under the PDP to achieve our coalition goals,” Adeleke declared.
He concluded by urging members to reaffirm their commitment to the PDP, a party he described as one that has always stood for the values and ideals of the people.
