SZA has confirmed the release date of the extended edition of ‘Lana’.
The album came out in December after almost a year of speculation about its release. Rather than a standalone album, it exists as a deluxe version of her 2022 LP ‘SOS’.
Shortly after the release of ‘Lana’, SZA confirmed that “updated mixes” alongside “new songs” from the album would be added to streaming services on January 6 – when staff at her record label returned from their Christmas vacation. However, the new tracks weren’t released.
Now though, the ‘Broken Clocks’ singer has quietly confirmed that the songs will be shared today (February 9) at 7pm EST (February 10 12am GMT). The announcement came via her official website, rather than her social media pages where she’s previously shared news.
The page reads: “New Songs Coming,” and provides a link to pre-save.

The songs will be released at the same time as her appearance at the Super Bowl half time show today, where she will be performing as Kendrick Lamar’s special guest. Lamar also appeared on the album track ‘30 For 30’, which followed SZA appearing on his surprise album ‘GNX’ the month before.
The pair are also heading on a joint North American tour later this year.
‘SOS’ went on to secure nine Grammy nominations. It has also hit Number One on the Billboard 200 and Number Two on the UK singles chart, as well as being certified 3x Platinum in the US. In a five-star review, NME described it as “a comeback album well worth the wait”.
In other SZA news, her hit new comedy One Of Them Days, which also stars Keke Palmer, will be released in cinemas in the UK on March 7, following a positive reception upon its release in the States.
The comedy, the first R-rated female Black comedy to hit cinemas since 2017’s Girl Trip, was a surprise hit recently in the US. It beat horror film Wolf Man to finish second in the box office chart, just behind Mufasa: The Lion King. It also currently stands at a 95 per cent “fresh” critics rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
