KANO – Panic gripped residents of Kano on Monday after a young man climbed a towering billboard near Gadar Lado along Zaria Road and threatened to take his own life unless certain TikTok stars he follows showed up at the scene.
The incident drew a large crowd as passersby watched in shock, while emergency responders and security operatives raced to the location in a bid to prevent tragedy.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealed that the man was adamant he would only come down if specific TikTok celebrities appeared.
“He specifically mentioned that if the celebrities he follows on TikTok don’t come, he will jump. May Allah prevent it,” Kiyawa wrote in a Facebook post.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue efforts were still ongoing.
