'Grand Theft Auto 6' trailer

Rockstar Games has joined Discord with their official Grand Theft Auto 6 channel to house all the rumours about the forthcoming game.

Announced via a blog post earlier this week, Rockstar wrote: “Whether you’re coordinating with a Heist crew, organizing a car meet, or putting a team together to take advantage of this week’s Casino Story Mission bonuses, there’s no better place to connect with like-minded players than on the newly launched official Rockstar Games Discord.”

As you’d expect, there are channels for Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 but the most popular one is the dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 channel, with fans sharing theories and speculating about the release date of the upcoming game. With over 24,000 members currently online, it’s pretty chaotic.

Despite the free-for-all, fans have praised Rockstar for reaching out to the community after months of silence. Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially unveiled at the end of 2023 with a brief teaser trailer but since then, it’s been radio silence from the game developers. There have been constant rumours about release date, price and what platforms the game will be launched on, but developers have been keeping things vague.

Earlier this month, they said Grand Theft Auto 6 was still looking at an autumn 2025 release date and hinted the game could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. “There was a time when Nintendo platforms were geared at younger audiences, that was reflected in our release schedule. Today, with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience,” said Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two Interactive.

“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely’, you jinx things,” Zelnick said about sticking to their 2025 release date but added: “We feel really good about it.”

Last week, EA suggested that the new Battlefield game could be delayed to avoid clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6’s potential release window and earlier this year, it was reported that several games had been delayed due to the game’s unconfirmed release date.

In other news, HBO boss Francesca Orci has said The Last Of Us will probably run for four seasons.
