The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Dr. Sam Amadi, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands a strong chance of winning the Middle Belt region in the 2027 general elections — if certain political strategies fall into place.

Amadi, who is also a former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), made the projection in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday.

“They are making it easier for Tinubu to win the Middle Belt,” Amadi wrote. “It depends on just two games from Tinubu and Peter Obi, and I will call the zone for Tinubu.”

His comments come amid growing political realignments and speculation following the reported defection of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amadi suggested that such movements within the political landscape could work in Tinubu’s favor, helping the president consolidate support in the Middle Belt ahead of the 2027 polls.

The Middle Belt has long been viewed as a crucial swing region in Nigeria’s electoral politics, often determining the overall outcome of presidential contests. Amadi’s remarks add to ongoing debates about how emerging alliances, defections, and opposition strategies could shape the race for Aso Rock in 2027.
