The United States government has introduced stricter immigration enforcement measures, including a lifetime entry ban for individuals found guilty of visa fraud involving fake or falsified documents.

In a statement released Monday via its verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria warned that anyone caught submitting fraudulent bank statements, fake invitations, altered academic records, or other deceptive documentation during the visa application process will face a permanent ban from entering the United States.

“U.S. government interagency efforts combat fraud and will end illegal immigration. Those who commit visa fraud will be banned from the United States for life,” the Mission stated.

The policy is part of a broader strategy to preserve the integrity of the U.S. immigration system and bolster border security. Authorities also indicated that criminal charges could be filed against those who help smuggle or harbor undocumented immigrants.

Underscoring the urgency of immigration control, the U.S. Mission noted, “A nation without borders is not a nation.” The lifetime ban and intensified enforcement are components of a coordinated interagency initiative designed to root out immigration-related fraud and deter illegal entry.

In a related move, the U.S. government announced it is extending the validity period for work permits issued to non-citizens, aiming to provide greater stability and support for legal immigrants. Further details on this policy shift are expected in the coming weeks.
