A 52-year-old man identified as Morufudeen Idowu, who recently returned from Canada, has been arrested in Lagos for assaulting an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps.
The incident occurred when the officer attempted to prevent Idowu from crossing a busy expressway, in violation of traffic and pedestrian regulations. A video of the altercation, which has since gone viral, shows the moment Idowu lashed out at the official despite repeated warnings.
Authorities confirmed that Idowu was taken into custody following the assault and is currently undergoing investigation. The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has reiterated its commitment to enforcing safety laws and protecting its personnel from attacks while on duty.
The state government has also issued a reminder to the public to comply with traffic and safety regulations, warning that violations will be met with strict enforcement.
