Miley Cyrus performed ‘Flowers’ last night (February 14) for Saturday Night Live‘s SNL 50: The Homecoming concert. Check out the footage below.
The ‘Plastic Hearts’ hitmaker was announced as a performer for the 50th anniversary celebrations for SNL last month, having previously hosted the show three times and performed as a musical guest four, most recently in 2021.
Throughout her rendition of the Record of the Year winning track, she encouraged the New York City crowd to sing along, in a nod to comments she made onstage at the 2024 Grammys where she asked the crowd: “Why you acting like you don’t know this song?”
Turning to the crowd last night, she teased: “Are y’all doing that Grammys thing where you guys are famous and shit and don’t sing along? Excuse my language.”
It’s one of several moments in the performance that have since gone viral, with others including a brief shoutout mid-song to her “buddy” Adam Sandler, Anya Taylor-Joy and Pedro Pascal dancing and singing along, as well as Cyrus gushing: “I love you Paul Rudd!” as the Ant-Man star sat on in the audience and blew her a kiss.

She wrapped up by taking a bow and saying: “I love you, [SNL creator] Lorne Michaels!”
SNL has been celebrating its 50th anniversary, launching its 50th season in late September. Among the content planned and already rolled out for its 50th anniversary are the feature film Saturday Night, a Questlove-helmed documentary focusing on the programming’s music and more.
In a three-star review of Saturday Night, Jordan Bassett wrote for NME: “Out of the chaos emerges a rather inspiring ode to making it up as you go along, living in the moment, saying ‘yes’ and hoping for the best.
“You may wind up with a “half-assed rat-fuck donkey show”, as Dafoe fabulously seethes at one point, or you may create history. It’s this that – just about – makes Saturday Night worth watching. As any improv comedian could tell you: stick with it and you’ll stumble upon gold.”
In other news, Cyrus teased her next era in late 2024, and expressed her excitement for “starting over again”. She previously revealed that her next studio album had been inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, but described it as being “more glamorous and filled with pop culture”.
