Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will work diligently to restore both the party’s standing and Nigeria’s prosperity.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday at the inauguration of the Board of Governors and unveiling the roadmap for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), Makinde emphasized the PDP’s commitment to national renewal.
“We will fix the PDP, and then the PDP will fix Nigeria, which will be the foundation of real hope for the people of this country,” Makinde affirmed.
“As we look toward 2027, it’s essential that the PDP provide genuine hope for Nigerians. The revitalization of the PDI marks a significant step in fulfilling that promise.”
Established in 2000, the PDI serves as the PDP’s research and educational wing, designed to cultivate democratic values in Nigeria and Africa through training, capacity building, research, and documentation initiatives.
According to Makinde, the newly inaugurated board signifies a closer step toward solidifying the party’s ideological foundation. “Our country needs direction,” he said, “and Nigerians are looking up to the PDP to provide that foundation.”
He urged leaders entrusted with public service roles to continually reflect on the legacy they want to leave behind. “Those given the opportunity to serve must ask themselves what they want to be remembered for,” Makinde added.
Reaffirming his dedication to strengthening democracy and his party, the Oyo governor expressed confidence that the PDP could become a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s future.
