The Nigerian Army (NA) has addressed a viral video making rounds on social media that appears to show a senior Army officer and two soldiers involved in an altercation with a man and a woman in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army acknowledged the incident but noted that the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear.

Reacting to the development, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, directed an immediate investigation into the matter. “The Nigerian Army is committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation,” Oluyede stated.

The statement reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to protecting all law-abiding Nigerians, as enshrined in the Constitution. “We assure the public that due diligence will be applied to ensure a logical conclusion is reached. The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its dedication to professionalism and accountability,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Army has appealed to the public for patience and advised against speculation while the investigation is ongoing.
