The Edo State Government has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 62nd birthday of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, hailing his distinguished service to the nation.
In a congratulatory message on December 9, 2024, Edo State Governor, Senator Okpebholo, described Senator Akpabio as a “trailblazer in public service” whose remarkable journey has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s democratic landscape. “Senator Akpabio’s leadership, wisdom, and dedication to nation-building have earned him immense respect.
His accomplishments as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, where he was fondly called a ‘jinx breaker,’ and his historic election to the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which ended Nigeria’s 59-year absence from its leadership, are milestones that inspire us all,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
The Governor commended Senator Akpabio’s ability to navigate both executive and legislative responsibilities at the state and federal levels. He highlighted Akpabio’s exemplary tenure as Akwa Ibom Governor, Minority Leader of the Senate, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and currently, President of the Senate.
Governor Okpebholo also acknowledged the Senate President’s critical role in fostering a productive partnership between the National Assembly and the Executive since their inauguration in June 2023.
“This collaborative relationship has brought significant benefits to Nigerians, and I am confident it will continue to yield positive outcomes under his leadership,” he noted.
The Governor concluded by wishing Senator Akpabio a joyous birthday and many more years of impactful service to humanity.
