On Monday, January 15, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced its intention to enlist a private firm for the operation and maintenance of the Port Harcourt Petroleum Refinery.
In a statement on its Twitter handle, the NNPCL justified this move by emphasizing the importance of reliability and sustainability in meeting the nation’s fuel supply and energy security obligations.
According to the state-owned oil firm, “The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is seeking to engage reputable and credible Operations & Maintenance (O&M) companies to operate and maintain one of its refineries, Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), to ensure reliability and sustainability towards meeting the nation’s fuel supply and energy security obligations.”
