Security operatives have arrested three suspected bandits linked to the deadly February 3, 2026 attack on Woro village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The arrests were disclosed by Ibraheem Abdullateef, media aide to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who said the suspects were intercepted in Kaiama while attempting to purchase a motorcycle.

“The suspects came into Kaiama under the guise of buying a motorcycle but were intercepted by security operatives acting on credible intelligence,” Abdullateef said.

He added that the suspects are cooperating with investigators to help track down other perpetrators and facilitate the rescue of abducted victims.

“They are cooperating with authorities to aid ongoing investigations, facilitate the release of abductees, and strengthen security in the state,” he said.

The arrests follow the gruesome attacks on Woro and nearby Nuku communities—now widely referred to as the Woro massacre—which left scores dead and many abducted.

Reports indicate that between 162 and over 200 people were killed, while about 176 residents, including women and children, were kidnapped during the raids.

Governor AbdulRazaq had condemned the killings as a “cowardly act,” while President Bola Tinubu ordered the deployment of troops to the area under a special security operation, “Operation Savannah Shield.”

Security agencies say operations have since intensified in Kaiama and surrounding areas as efforts continue to apprehend other suspects and secure the release of victims still in captivity.
