Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that he has remained completely faithful to his wife, Sherifat, since the day they married.

Speaking at a recent ADC rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area ahead of the state’s governorship election, Aregbesola made the bold personal confession before a crowd of supporters, attributing his fidelity to his deep fear of God and a personal vow he made to himself.

Addressing the gathering in Yoruba, the former governor said his commitment to marital faithfulness was part of a personal test he set for himself, one rooted entirely in his devotion to God.

“Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife,” Aregbesola declared.

He further revealed his political ambition, telling the crowd: “I told God that next June, we must do it at the government house.”

Aregbesola’s remarks, which drew applause from the audience, framed his personal discipline as both a spiritual commitment and a standard he believes should guide public life.
