Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has launched a new Christian ministry, New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT), in a fresh step in her ongoing public journey of faith.

Dikeh announced the ministry on Sunday, describing it as an interdenominational spiritual home for believers seeking revival and a closer walk with God. She stressed that NWPT is not a conventional church but a fellowship built around prayer, spiritual growth, and the propagation of the Christian faith, with plans for revival meetings, apostolic training and soul-winning outreach.

She explained that the ministry’s name draws from the biblical account in Mark 2:22 on new wine and new wineskins, which she said captures the vision behind the movement.

The launch caps a period of visible spiritual transformation for the actress. In December 2025, she gave an emotional testimony detailing her past struggles with smoking, alcohol and anger, which she described as a turning point in her walk with God. She has said she was raised in a devout Christian home and had long felt a pull toward ministry.

Her renewed faith has run alongside a major personal reconciliation: earlier in 2026, she and her former husband, Olakunle Churchill, mended their relationship after years of a highly publicised fallout.

NWPT’s weekly fellowship will hold every Friday at 6pm at Omini Grand Hotel (formerly Alexis Hotel), near Masalachi Junction in Jabi, Abuja.

News of the ministry’s launch has divided opinion online. One user wrote that only someone who had walked Dikeh’s path could understand her calling back to “her original ordination,” while another said they hoped God would use her testimony to touch lives.

But not everyone was convinced, one commenter questioned why converts often move straight to starting churches, while another argued she could be using her Nollywood fame to make money from the venture.

A further reaction linked the move to her fortunes in politics, suggesting she had turned to “church business” after political ambitions stalled, while one follower said the development was unsurprising given how often she had posted prayers in recent months.
