Arsenal is considering a move for Napoli’s forward, Victor Osimhen, with manager Mikel Arteta eager to bolster the team’s attacking lineup. The possibility of securing a discounted deal for Osimhen might arise if the Gunners engage in negotiations involving Napoli’s interest in defender Jakub Kiwior.
Kiwior, who joined Arsenal for £17.5 million last January, has encountered limited opportunities under Arteta, prompting interest from Napoli, who seek defensive reinforcement. Napoli is reportedly allocating £30 million for transfers, targeting Kiwior as their prime candidate for the backline.
Despite interest from AC Milan and Sevilla’s previous approach, Arsenal is firm on retaining Kiwior, valued at £25 million. The Polish defender has seen more game time recently, featuring in two of Arsenal’s last four matches and totaling 13 appearances across competitions this season.
Arsenal, reluctant to part with Kiwior, might leverage Napoli’s interest to potentially secure a discount on a deal for Osimhen either in January or during the upcoming transfer window. Osimhen, set to sign a contract extension with Napoli, could include a release clause valued at around £110 million.
In a strategic move, Arsenal could explore a potential swap plus cash deal involving Kiwior to lower the fee for Osimhen. This strategy aims to strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options and potentially outmaneuver other interested clubs like Chelsea in securing the Nigerian International’s services.
