The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has reached a landmark agreement with Dangote Refinery, securing direct access to fuel products.
The deal, announced by IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, at a press briefing on Monday in Abuja, aims to improve the affordability and steady supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across Nigeria.
Garima shared details of the agreement following a recent meeting between IPMAN’s National Working Committee and Aliko Dangote’s management team in Lagos.
“After meeting with Aliko Dangote and his management team, we are pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets,” he stated.
In urging IPMAN members to embrace the partnership, Garima emphasized its potential to enhance local fuel production and reduce dependency on imports. “IPMAN members should rely on Dangote Refinery and Nigerian refineries for white products,” he urged, highlighting the added benefit of “creating more job opportunities and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.”
The agreement, which took several months of negotiations, is expected to bring significant improvements in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and economic growth.
By providing direct access to Dangote Refinery’s products, the deal is set to eliminate middlemen, reduce expenses, and support Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
The Dangote Refinery, the largest in Africa and Europe, has already started producing petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, and will now supply over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets across the country.
This collaboration is expected to transform the supply chain, ensuring affordable fuel for Nigerian consumers.
