The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the charge after the Federal Government applied to terminate the case, saying Adeyemi would be moved to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for fresh arraignment.

The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, moved the application at Monday’s proceedings.

Oyedepo told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and the charge originally filed by the Inspector-General of Police, and identified some loopholes.

He said the documents Adeyemi allegedly forged while running the purported agency constituted offences that could be prosecuted by the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

The DPPF added that a fresh charge had already been filed before the FCT High Court, and that Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh without delay.

He urged the judge to strike out the charge in accordance with the law.

Counsel for Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application, after which Justice Umar struck out the charge.

Adeyemi, 38, was standing trial in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025 alongside two other defendants whose whereabouts are unknown. They face charges bordering on conspiracy and forgery.

The two defendants said to be at large were identified only as Femi and Anu, with their surnames unknown.
