Daar Communications Plc, the parent company of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower, has directed several senior executives who have served 10 years or more in their positions to retire. The move is set to take effect in November, according to a source within the company.
The source revealed that among those affected by the retirement mandate are prominent figures such as Tony Akiotu, Tosin Dokpesi, Ambrose Somide, Paulyn Ugbodaga, and Tony Uyah.
“About 11 directors who have been with the company for over a decade have been asked to retire,” a company insider, who requested anonymity, told Paparazzi. “One of them is Tosin Dokpesi, the widow of our late founder and chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi.”
This development comes a few months after the passing of Daar Communications founder, Raymond Dokpesi, on May 29, 2023. His son, Raymond Dokpesi Jr, has been serving as the company’s chairman since 2019.
The decision to retire the long-serving directors follows a challenging financial period for Daar Communications, which reported a loss of N1.6 billion for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023.
