Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have detained Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja this morning.
Ajaero was reportedly about to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment when he was apprehended by DSS personnel.
“The reasons for his arrest remain unclear at this moment,” a source revealed. “He has been transferred to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for further questioning.”
Ajaero was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress (TUC) conference in the UK today.
