The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) proudly welcomed a delegation from the newly elected executives of The Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) on Thursday, June 13, 2024. This courtesy visit marked a significant step towards fostering greater collaboration and mutual growth within Nigeria’s dynamic media industry.

The meeting, which held at EMCOAN’s secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, brought together top leaders from both organizations to discuss strategic initiatives and opportunities for partnership. As EMCOAN represents a diverse group of owners of media content across TV, radio, and online platforms, and MIPAN embodies the media planning and buying agencies, the synergy between the two entities promises to drive innovation and excellence in media practices nationwide.In his welcome address, EMCOAN President, Mr Adeniji Omirin, expressed his delight at MIPAN’s visit, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperative efforts in the media sector. “Today’s meeting would herald a new beginning of synergy between our organisations. This is a testament to our commitment to working together for the common good of our industry. By joining forces, EMCOAN and MIPAN can leverage each other’s strengths to create a more robust and sustainable media environment in Nigeria,” he said.

MIPAN’s President, Mr Dozie Okafor, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the shared vision for progress and development. “We are thrilled to engage with EMCOAN and explore avenues where our collaboration can lead to tangible benefits for all stakeholders. This partnership is crucial for setting new benchmarks in media planning, buying, and content creation,” he remarked.

During the discussions, both organizations made solid commitments to support each other’s growth and success. Key areas of focus included:a) Enhancing industry standards and best practices.b) Promoting local content.c) Strengthening regulatory frameworks to ensure a fair and competitive market.d) Encouraging innovation and embracing new media technologies.

The courtesy visit concluded with a mutual agreement to work together to rid the industry of corruption by ridding it of bad eggs, ensure equity and fairness in the industry as well as identifying and executing collaborative projects that will benefit both members and the wider media community.

Also present at the Courtesy Visit were members of the Board of Trustee (BOT) of EMCOAN in persons of veteran media entrepreneur Agatha Amata, Nollywood Actor/Producer, High Chief Emeka Ossai, immediate past President of EMCOAN- Jibe Ologeh while MIPAN also had other Executive members like Brendan Nwagwu (Vice President), Funke Fajusigbe (Assistant Publicity Secretary ) & Funmi Bamigboye (Assistant Secretary).

The leadership of EMCOAN and MIPAN expressed their optimism about the positive impact this partnership will have on the Nigerian media landscape. They also called on other stakeholders to support this initiative and join hands in promoting the growth and sustainability of the industry.
