Akwa Ibom State Police Command made a significant arrest when they apprehended Aniekan James, a man accused of murdering his own son, Odudu James, aged 35.
The arrest was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, during a parade of 268 individuals apprehended for various offenses. Commissioner Durosinmi revealed that Aniekan James had a history of violence, having allegedly killed multiple individuals in Lagos and Abia states. Detectives from the Ukanafun Division successfully apprehended Aniekan James on June 16, 2023.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Ikot Ndot village, Ukanafun LGA, where Aniekan James and his son resided.
Following a heated argument, Aniekan James allegedly shot his son, leading to his tragic demise. It is believed that Aniekan James has a pattern of engaging in lethal acts, having previously been involved in murders in Lagos and Abia states.Aniekan James had long evaded capture but was finally apprehended by the police and paraded at the headquarters.
During intense interrogation, he confessed to the crime without displaying any remorse. Aniekan James admitted to personally shooting his son, explaining that he had repeatedly warned him against bringing young girls to their house.
