The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from an alleged armed robber and ritualist in a hotel in Wuse, Abuja. The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State, remains at large, prompting an intensive police manhunt.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, officers responded to a distress call from the hotel on January 31, 2025, at around 11:30 a.m.

“Our operatives acted swiftly upon receiving a report of suspicious activity in one of the hotel rooms,” Adeh stated. Upon arrival, police officers found Promise Eze unconscious, tied to a small chair, with her mouth covered in plaster. “She was in critical condition, but we immediately freed her and rushed her to Wuse District Hospital, where she was resuscitated,” Adeh added.

Investigations revealed that Promise had checked into the hotel a day earlier, on January 30, with a man who introduced himself as Michael Prince, claiming to be an oil company employee in Delta State. However, he was later identified as Emmanuel Okoro.”What was supposed to be a casual meeting turned into a traumatic experience,” Adeh explained.

“The suspect reportedly brandished a dagger, threatened her, and tied her up inside the bathroom before fleeing with her two mobile phones.”Before escaping, Okoro was overheard speaking on the phone with suspected accomplices. “He told them he was on his way to regroup before returning to the hotel to ‘finish the job,'” Adeh revealed.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, condemned the attack and reassured the public of the force’s commitment to justice.”This is a despicable act, and we are doing everything in our power to apprehend the suspect,” CP Disu stated. “We urge residents, especially young women, to be cautious when meeting people they do not know personally.”

He also called on anyone with information regarding Okoro’s whereabouts to contact the police via the emergency lines: 08032003913 or the Complaint Response Unit at 08107314192.

SP Adeh emphasized that the police remain dedicated to safeguarding lives and properties. “We urge the public to stay vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all communities,” she said.

The FCT Police Command continues its search for the suspect, assuring the public that justice will be served.
