Supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara are expressing renewed optimism that the embattled governor will soon be reinstated, lauding President Bola Tinubu for what they describe as his democratic approach and commitment to restoring peace in Rivers State.
At an Easter praise event organized by the Simplified Movement across all 23 Local Government Areas, members gathered in worship, song, and prayer, using the religious occasion as both spiritual reflection and political expression.
In Ahoada, a leader of the movement, Stephen Ihua-Maduenyi, told the crowd, “As you very well know, today is Easter Sunday. Our Lord, our Father, Jesus Christ, is resurrected. We are here to celebrate this. We are here to call on Him to celebrate us, just as He celebrated mankind—that He can make it possible for our governor to come back. We believe He can do it for us.”
Ihua-Maduenyi emphasized the group’s faith-driven belief that divine intervention, coupled with Tinubu’s leadership, would lead to a positive outcome for the state.
Also speaking at the event, suspended Commissioner for Education, Ovy Chukwuma, drew symbolic parallels between the resurrection of Christ and the current political situation in the state.
“They tried burying us in Rivers State, but we are here to tell the world that we are alive. That Rivers State is alive. That Rivers State is with him—Governor Siminalayi Fubara,” Chukwuma said in an interview with Channels Television.
Supporters reiterated their confidence in President Tinubu, noting that his ongoing involvement shows he is acting in the best interest of Rivers State and its citizens.
While tensions remain high in the state, members of the Simplified Movement say they are holding onto hope, believing that political stability and normalcy are within reach.
