A significant IT outage is disrupting banks, airports, supermarkets, and businesses globally, with computer security firm CrowdStrike reportedly involved.
The disruption, which began around 3 p.m. AEST, has impacted airport check-in systems and led to widespread IT problems, including frequent “blue screen of death” errors. Many banks and payment systems are down, resulting in the closure of some supermarkets and petrol stations.
Despite the widespread issues, emergency services in Australia, including triple-0, continue to function normally. Authorities currently believe the outage is linked to CrowdStrike software rather than a cyber attack.
CrowdStrike has announced that it is working diligently to resolve the issue.
