ABUJA — A nationwide call for financial intervention has been launched to save the Green Heroes Foundation (GHF), a frontline NGO dedicated to the welfare of Nigeria’s war veterans, following the demolition of its primary funding source.
The foundation’s ability to provide medical care, dignity, and financial aid to retired soldiers and their families is at a breaking point. Brigadier General S. P. Akpan (Rtd), on behalf of friends of Air Commodore A. A. Balogun (Rtd), is urging well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to donate immediately to ensure that those who served the nation are not left stranded.
Why Your Support is Critical Now
For years, the Green Heroes Foundation has operated without the need for public fundraising, thanks to the revenue generated by Jazz and Blues Entertainment, an establishment owned by Air Commodore Balogun. However, the recent demolition of this business by the FCDA Development Control has wiped out the foundation’s financial engine.
Without an immediate influx of donations, the vital programs that support Nigeria’s veterans, many of whom are elderly or disabled, face a total shutdown.
“We are appealing to the heart of the nation,” said General Akpan. “No amount is too small to help us restore the dignity of our retired officers and revive the life-saving activities of the Green Heroes Foundation. We need your help to ensure our heroes are never forgotten.”
