Abuja, Nigeria — Tragedy struck the Kubwa area of Abuja late Friday night when armed men invaded the home of Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, a respected veterinarian, killing him and abducting his three children.
According to local sources, the gunmen stormed the residence along the Kubwa–Kaduna Road, overpowering anyone who attempted to resist. Dr. Ogbu was reportedly taken away during the attack, and his body was later discovered by the roadside early the next morning.
Family members say his three children remain missing, sparking widespread concern and calls for urgent action by security agencies.
Dr. Ogbu, a former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, was widely regarded as a dedicated professional and community member. He leaves behind a nursing wife and grieving colleagues who described his killing as “a senseless loss.”
One of his associates, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, confirmed the death in a Facebook post, writing: “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu … who was kidnapped alongside his three children … has been found dead. The children are still missing.”
As of press time, the FCT Police Command had not issued an official statement. Attempts by reporters to reach the command’s spokesperson were unsuccessful, though unconfirmed reports suggest an investigation has begun.
This latest attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity and frequent abductions in the Federal Capital Territory and its satellite communities. Residents of Kubwa and neighboring areas have repeatedly appealed for increased police patrols and stronger government intervention.
With the whereabouts of Dr. Ogbu’s children still unknown, the urgency to rescue them and bring the perpetrators to justice continues to mount. Authorities have not confirmed whether a ransom demand has been made or if any arrests have occurred.
