The Office of the Governor of Edo State has clarified that Mr. John Mayaki, a former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor, Godwin Obaseki, does not represent the views or speak on behalf of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, emphasized the importance of distinguishing personal opinions from official communications.
“Mr. John Mayaki is, just as any other citizen of this great nation, entitled to his own opinion over matters, but these should not be misjudged or seen as speech from Governor Okpebholo or an account of the Administration,” Itua stated.
The statement further underscored that only the Governor’s officially appointed spokespersons are authorized to communicate on matters concerning the state government.
“We therefore call on the public and the media to authenticate any information or statement credited to Governor Okpebholo through the proper sources. Statements attributed to unauthorized individuals do not reflect the official position of the Edo State Government,” Itua added.
The Governor’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and encouraged citizens to rely on verified sources for accurate information.
