The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, a native doctor from Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, who has been on the police wanted list for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings.

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, confirmed the development in an official statement, noting that Obieze was apprehended at the Badagry-Seme border while attempting to flee the country.

According to Akinlabi, “The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has confirmed the arrest. This is the result of effective border patrol and intelligence sharing.”

The statement revealed that Obieze was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl on May 27, 2025. “The victim was reportedly abducted by a group of three men while walking with her father to their farm. She was later rescued by police from a shrine reportedly linked to the suspect,” Akinlabi said, referencing details published by a national newspaper on May 28.

Obieze was caught by NIS officers from the Lagos State Border Patrol Command at Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road. He was reportedly trying to escape on a motorcycle when he was intercepted.

“Through credible intelligence, vigilant officers were able to stop and identify the suspect. His identity was verified through a National Identity Management Commission enrolment slip found on him. During initial questioning, he confessed to the alleged crimes,” Akinlabi confirmed.

The NIS spokesperson further stated, “We are working closely with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the suspect is handed over for thorough investigation and prosecution. The Service remains committed to maintaining border security and preventing fugitives from escaping justice.”

As of press time, Obieze remains in custody, and security agencies are coordinating efforts for his formal transfer to police authorities.
