Ibadan, Nigeria – July 7, 2025

There are strong indications that the process to crown a new Olubadan of Ibadanland may be reaching its final stages, as royal drummers were reportedly sighted relocating to the Bodija residence of former Oyo State governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

Sources close to the Olubadan-in-Council confirmed to Paparazzi Online News that the presence of the traditional drummers, known to herald the installation of a new monarch, signals a significant move in the succession process.

Although no official announcement has been made, the drummers’ arrival has sparked widespread speculation that Senator Ladoja, a senior High Chief and former governor, stands automatically selected as the next Olubadan following the transition of Oba Olakulehin.

Eyewitnesses report heightened traditional activity and visits from key kingmakers at the ex-governor’s compound, with palace sources hinting that a formal declaration could be made within days.

Senator Ladoja, a prominent figure in Ibadan’s traditional hierarchy, has long been seen as a frontrunner in the royal line of succession, being next in line for the Olubadan title.

More details to follow as the story develops.
