The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off a popular leisure spot, Dimple Berry Lounge, in Lekki Phase 1, over persistent noise pollution and disregard for environmental regulations.
The enforcement action, carried out on Tuesday by LASEPA’s environmental compliance team, follows a series of verified complaints from residents about excessive noise and public disturbance from the establishment.
Speaking after the operation, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the agency had issued multiple warnings and directives to the lounge operators, all of which were ignored.
“Despite repeated notices and an extended grace period, the management of Dimple Berry failed to comply with noise control requirements. We were left with no option but to seal the premises to protect the health and peace of the community,” Dr. Ajayi stated.
He further disclosed that the lounge was advised to install soundproofing systems or take other measures to reduce noise levels but failed to make any meaningful effort.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized LASEPA’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws across Lagos, especially in residential and mixed-use areas, and urged operators in the hospitality and entertainment sector to prioritize environmental compliance.
“LASEPA will continue to ensure a peaceful and healthy environment for all residents of Lagos,” he added.
