The Special Adviser and 14 Special Assistants on Federal Constituency Matters to Oyo State Governor, Engr. , have condemned reports circulating about a purported impeachment plot against the governor.
In a joint statement signed by Hon. Dare Adeleke, after a meeting at his office, they described the rumours being spread by certain individuals as a distraction from the progress being made by the governor in the state.
They stated:
“We are aware of the purported rumours of a plot to allegedly impeach the Governor of Oyo State. The narrative being circulated, which includes claims of mind-boggling sums allegedly offered as inducements to the Speaker of the House of Assembly and other members, is unfortunately emanating from disgruntled elements within the opposition party, particularly the APC
“It has come to our attention that this is yet another form of propaganda designed to create friction between the executive and the legislature, and to drag the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba , as well as other respected members of the community, into unnecessary controversy.
“We wish to state unequivocally that Oyo State remains peaceful, and there is no cause for alarm.
“We totally condemn these recent developments in totality. We strongly stand with Gov Seyi Makinde, our principal and father in modern Oyo state.
“In the meantime, we urge the general public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating tension.
“We also issue a clear warning to the opposition to desist from engaging in divisive and dirty politics that could overheat the polity. Oyo is a progressive state and will remain so under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde.”
