Former President Muhammadu Buhari has confidently asserted that his administration significantly improved Nigeria’s economy and security from 2015 to 2023.

Speaking on Wednesday at his home in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari addressed members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, reflecting on his tenure.

Buhari emphasized the daunting challenges his government faced upon taking office, particularly those left by the previous People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration.

He stated, “Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria.”

Highlighting his administration’s strategies, Buhari claimed they effectively curbed terrorism and alleviated economic hardship. He acknowledged ongoing administrative challenges, noting, “Only those in positions of power truly understand these obstacles.”

The former President’s remarks were met with applause from the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, who praised Buhari’s commitment to addressing security issues such as terrorism and banditry.

Ibrahim-Jargaba commended Buhari for his “hard work, dedication, and selfless service,” asserting that these efforts were pivotal in maintaining national unity.
