ABUJA – Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo announced on Thursday that Nigeria will host the Nigeria International Airshow in April 2025 in Lagos.
Keyamo highlighted that the event would spotlight Nigeria’s vast potential on the global stage, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s ambitious vision for a $1 trillion economy.
At a press briefing in Abuja, Keyamo shared the Ministry’s preparations for the airshow and reassured aviation unions that airport concession plans are progressing with safeguards for workers in place.
“We’re working to concession our airports, but I assure the unions that there will be no job losses. Any parties involved in the concession will take on existing workforce liabilities,” he emphasized.
Keyamo explained that the airshow would help promote two significant African policies aimed at boosting trade and development through aviation. “Our goal is to unlock Africa’s potential, especially Nigeria’s, by leveraging these policies,” he said. “Through the airshow, we can showcase our capabilities and attract collaborations to help develop our infrastructure.”
Addressing Nigeria’s infrastructural challenges, Keyamo stated, “Yes, we face infrastructure issues, but the airshow will allow potential partners to witness Nigeria’s potential firsthand and explore ways to work with us to enhance our facilities.”
On the broader impact of the airshow, Keyamo highlighted its role beyond the aviation sector. “This initiative aligns with Mr. President’s aim for a $1 trillion economy.
The airshow will stimulate economic activities in transport, tourism, cargo, defense, and technology,” he noted. “This is more than an aviation event – it’s a call to action for stakeholders and friends of Nigeria to join us in making this a success.”
Inviting international and domestic partners, Keyamo urged, “We welcome all stakeholders to collaborate with us and help drive this powerful platform forward.”
