The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has directed all Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers in the 774 Local Governments to memorize the newly signed National Anthem by Monday, June 3, 2024.

This directive, issued by Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, is part of the Agency’s efforts to ensure a smooth transition to the new National Anthem, which is part of a national identity project aimed at promoting national cohesion, unity, and patriotism.“

These officers are the Agency’s lead representatives in the local governments, responsible for educating citizens about government policies, programs, and activities,” said the Director General. The NOA is also collaborating with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to ensure that schools across the country adopt the new National Anthem promptly.

“We are excited to embark on this new chapter in our national history,” added Issa-Onilu. “We believe that this new National Anthem will inspire a sense of pride and unity among Nigerians, and we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to it.”

The change follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent approval of the bill that reinstates ‘Nigeria We Hail Thee’ as the national anthem.

In a circular, the NOA DG emphasized the importance of the directive, urging all Community Officers to take it seriously and learn the new National Anthem by the specified deadline. “You will be the grassroots marshals for the implementation of this new policy,” he stated.
