As part of the buildup to the highly anticipated TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF), scheduled for October 14-17, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, the International Central Working Committee (ICWC) of TAF has announced a special event to mark World Theatre Day on March 27, 2025. The celebration will feature a thought-provoking webinar focused on the global significance of theatre.
With the theme “Theatre: A Culture of Peace in Search of Development,” the webinar will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM via Zoom. The session will feature distinguished industry professionals, including award-winning author and poet AJ Dagga Tolar, Nollywood actor Rotimi Adelegan, Ghanaian arts and media consultant Lydia Gifty Hagan, and veteran theatre director Uwagbai Paul, among others.

According to Alayande Stephen T., CEO and Co-Founder of TheatreMania Africa Festival, the webinar aligns with the core mission of World Theatre Day.
“As you all know, the ultimate goal of World Theatre Day is to promote and create more awareness of the art form across the world while encouraging more people to watch stage productions. Our initiative symbolically marks the day with a webinar that will further enrich the discussion on theatre as a tool for peace and development. We invite all theatre lovers, creatives, and arts enthusiasts to join this insightful session,” he said.

Beyond the webinar, TheatreMania Africa is encouraging thespians, creatives, and lovers of the arts across Africa to participate in a social media campaign.
