The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to eliminating so-called “Miracle Examination Centres,” which enable widespread exam malpractice across the country.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Dr. Alausa declared that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is determined to clean up the nation’s education system.

“We have a problem with examination malpractice, which we are addressing frontally as a government,” he stated. “This is not acceptable because if you let people cheat, you will disincentive the hardworking people.”

The Minister criticized private secondary schools that attract students by promising guaranteed exam success, saying such practices undermine the integrity of Nigeria’s education system.

“We will tackle this issue of miracle centres—this pervasive exam cheating—decisively,” Dr. Alausa assured. “We will bring a complete end to this menace that has really invaded our educational system.

”Beyond tackling malpractice, he noted that the government is working to improve the quality of higher education.

According to him, five universities have been selected to receive specialized training, which will, in turn, help enhance the standards of other public institutions nationwide.

The Tinubu administration’s crackdown on Miracle Examination Centres signals a broader push for reform in Nigeria’s educational sector, aiming to restore credibility and fairness to academic assessments.
