President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election victory in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, which disclosed that President Tinubu called Governor Adeleke in the early hours of Sunday to congratulate him on his victory.
According to the statement, the President said the outcome of the election reflects the will of the people of Osun State, adding that Adeleke’s win once again confirmed the confidence residents have reposed in him.
“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” Tinubu said.
He also praised the other contestants in the election for their courage and discipline, noting that their participation helped deepen and enrich the country’s democratic culture.
“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture,” the President said.
Tinubu further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
