The Trade Union Congress (TUC) announced plans for a one-day protest in Lagos State scheduled for Monday, September 25.
TUC President, Festus Osifo, revealed this during a press conference held in Lagos on Friday.
The protest is in response to the perceived crackdown by the Lagos State Government on the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), an affiliate of the TUC.
This action follows the Lagos Government’s appeal filed in May before the Court of Appeal in the state, challenging the judgment of the National Industrial Court.
The National Industrial Court in Lagos had ruled on April 18, ordering the reinstatement of RTEAN’s operations in Lagos State and nullifying the state government’s appointment of a caretaker committee for transportation.
