Abuja was thrown into mourning as kidnappers took the life of a woman, Esther Adesiyan, who was abducted alongside her husband, Michael Adesiyan, their son, and Michael’s elder brother. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday at the family’s residence in Chikakore, Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Reports indicate that after abducting Esther and her family, the gunmen proceeded to a nearby poultry farm, where they kidnapped another man and left his wife injured.

Body Found in Niger State

A family member confirmed the tragic news, revealing that Esther’s body was discovered in Ijah-Gbagyi, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. “She was found on Tuesday morning by some vigilante members patrolling the area,” the source said.

According to him, the vigilantes quickly alerted their counterparts in Chikakore, leading to the recovery of her remains. “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Byazhin division in Kubwa called me early in the morning, and together we went to the village to evacuate her remains,” the source added. “Her body has now been deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital morgue.”

Abductors Continue with Other Victims

Eyewitnesses suggest that Esther may have collapsed from exhaustion while the kidnappers were leading their victims into the forest, prompting them to kill her. “They left her body behind and continued their journey with the remaining captives,” another source disclosed.

Esther leaves behind her grieving husband and four children, one of whom remains in the custody of the kidnappers.

So far, the abductors have not reached out to the victims’ families for ransom or any communication.

Authorities and security agencies are yet to provide further updates on efforts to secure the release of the remaining hostages.
