Will Smith has revealed that he wants Zendaya to star in an upcoming sequel to the 2008 superhero film Hancock.

The movie, directed by Peter Berg (Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon) and written by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan alongside Vy Vincent Ngo, starred Smith as an amnesiac, alcoholic superhero trying to remember his past.

The character saves the lives of a couple played by Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron, who go on to help him improve his public image and piece together the story of his life.

The film was a box office success, grossing over $600million (£475million) from a budget of $150million (£120million), and now Smith has revealed that work is moving forward on a possible sequel.

Speaking on xQc’s Twitch stream, he said: “There’s a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea. We haven’t even talked about it so I’m gonna give you one little piece – Zendaya is being approached for a role in Hancock 2.”

Sony Pictures, who released the first film, have refused to confirm or deny Smith’s comments.

Zendaya is currently in high demand: reports emerged this week that filming is set to begin on the third Dune film later this year, while she is also connected to Christopher Nolan’s version of The Odyssey, which is filming in 2025, as well as the fourth entry in Marvel’s Spider-Man series and the third season of Euphoria, which are both also currently in production.

The actress is also reportedly now engaged to her Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland, after speculation grew when she was spotted wearing a large diamond ring at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards.

Smith, meanwhile, recently opened up about speaking to both Prince and Biggie Smalls just hours before they each died. “I don’t even want to say this out loud ’cause it’s like a terrible jinx,” he said. “I met Biggie four hours before he got killed, and I talked to Prince eight hours before he died.”

The actor has been focusing on his return to music in recent months, making his comeback last year with the single ‘Work Of Art’ featuring his son Jaden and Russ, followed by ‘Tantrum’ with Joyner Lucas.

Both songs are expected to be part of an upcoming album ‘Dance In Your Darkest Days’. The album has yet to receive a release date and will be his first since 2005’s ‘Lost And Found’.
