Davido, the renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, whose real name is David Adeleke, has expressed his gratitude and determination not to overlook the national honour bestowed upon him by the Federal Government.

In his first response to the announcement made by the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs regarding the national honours award, Davido took to Twitter on Wednesday, May 31, to share his joy and acknowledge the significance of the recognition. He emphasized that the award serves as a reminder of his ongoing mission to showcase the passion, resilience, and struggles of the Nigerian people.

Davido was among 339 distinguished Nigerians listed as recipients of the 2023 national honours during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his tweet, he expressed his gratitude for being conferred with the Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON) by the Federal Government, and he acknowledged the honor it represents.

He reiterated his commitment to utilizing his platform to highlight various aspects of Nigerian culture, including the nation’s joy and challenges. Davido also conveyed his appreciation to his followers for accompanying him on this journey and expressed his determination to contribute to the betterment of Nigeria.

In conclusion, he shared his hope for divine assistance in achieving this goal, signing off with “So help us God. 001 – OON.”
