Olisa Metuh, the former spokesperson of the PDP, praised President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption efforts, emphasizing that they are directed at corrupt government officials rather than the political opposition. In a press statement released yesterday, Metuh commended the Tinubu administration for its “genuine, determined, and uncompromising fight against corruption and financial crimes.”
Metuh highlighted a departure from past administrations, where he claimed the anti-corruption drive was merely a political and campaign tool aimed at opposition figures. According to Metuh, “In the past, the fight against corruption was targeted at diminishing opposition shining talents.”
Contrastingly, he noted a shift under Tinubu, where serving ministers and senior officials, irrespective of political affiliations, are being removed from office and facing prosecution for graft. Metuh stated, “Today, we see serving ministers and people who are holding top offices being removed from office and investigated for prosecution over corruption and financial crimes.”
Metuh praised this change in approach, characterizing Tinubu’s anti-corruption effort as focused on individuals with questions to answer rather than a tool for persecution. The former opposition spokesman called for non-partisan support for the administration’s anti-graft campaign.
