Nigerian rapper Falz, whose real name is Folarin Falana, has explained why he stopped condemning the federal government.

Falz is renowned for his songs addressing social injustices and poor leadership, including “Wehdone Sir,” “Child of the World,” “Talk,” and “Mr. Yakubu.”

In October 2020, he actively participated in the #EndSARS demonstration against police brutality.

However, at a private listening session for his latest extended play (EP), “Before The Feast,” Falz admitted he ceased criticizing the government to avoid being seen as the one constantly bringing grievances to public attention.

“You will definitely see that guy. But I do not want that guy to get to a point where he is seen as ‘you guys just dey complain’. I do not want to ever get to that point. That is why I am taking a pause on just complaining. I want to rearrange how I am doing it,” he said.

“So how am I doing it? Am I doing it in a way that is just making everybody feel sad? We are already know that we are in wàhálà. Why am I further soaking you in that emotion? I want to bring you out of that emotion in someway and that is what I am trying to do.”
