Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), along with his lawyer, Mr. Sunny Anyanwu, faced a remand order to Kuje Correctional Centre by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

According to Justice Omotosho, the remand was necessary pending the hearing of their bail application following their re-arraignment on an amended four-count charge related to alleged sexual harassment and attempt to pervert the course of justice.

“The court has ordered the remand of Prof. Cyril Ndifon and Mr. Sunny Anyanwu in Kuje Correctional Centre until the hearing of their bail application,” said Justice Omotosho.

The charges, brought forward by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alleged that Ndifon, during his tenure as Dean of Faculty of Law at UNICAL, solicited pornographic materials from a diploma student via WhatsApp.

Additionally, Anyanwu was accused of threatening a prosecution witness during the ongoing criminal investigation against Ndifon, an act perceived to obstruct justice.

This development follows Justice Omotosho’s previous decision on Jan. 10, where he granted Ndifon temporary bail to undergo glaucoma surgery.
