Grace Ike, the historic first female Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, has been recognized with the prestigious People’s Security Monitor Award.
The accolade celebrates her ingenuity, managerial excellence, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of journalists in the Federal Capital Territory. At the award ceremony, Ike was presented with a certificate of recognition and adorned with a gold medal.
She was accompanied by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, and other key stakeholders who lauded her achievements and dedication to advancing the NUJ’s mission. Expressing gratitude, Ike, fondly called “Mama Welfare” and “Miss NUJ,” dedicated the award to God and her colleagues.
“This recognition is not just for me but for every journalist in the FCT who works tirelessly to uphold the principles of truth and fairness. Together, we will continue to strive for a more vibrant and united NUJ,” she said.
The People’s Security Monitor, a prominent independent radio and online platform with a substantial following across Nigeria, acknowledged Ike for her visionary leadership and positive impact on the media profession.
The platform, renowned for bridging the gap between citizens and security agencies, commended Ike’s role in fostering harmony and excellence within the NUJ.
