Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the dissolution of the state executive council, calling on all government officials to hand over any government properties in their possession. The Governor has also terminated the appointments of political office holders and requested them to comply with the handover process.

The directive was conveyed in a letter signed by Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman of the Transition & Inauguration Committee. The letter stated that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde, has instructed the dissolution of the Oyo State Executive Council and the termination of all political officeholders’ appointments, effective from Tuesday, May 23, 2023. It further specified that all political officeholders must officially hand over and submit any government properties they possess to the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

The letter emphasized that political officeholders in statutory commissions are exempted from this directive. Governor Seyi Makinde expressed his gratitude for the significant contributions made by the political officeholders to the development of the state and wished them success in their future endeavors.

This action by Governor Makinde marks a significant change in the political landscape of Oyo State, as the government transitions to a new phase with fresh appointments and responsibilities.
