The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers in Kano State following the alleged collection of ransom from their victims in Edo, stated SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the Public Relations Officer of the command.
Nwabuzor informed newsmen that the suspects were apprehended by the Anti-kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the command. “The individuals in custody are identified as Aminu Sadio (24), Umar Aminu (22), Adamu Abubakar (30), and Adamu Tahir (30),” he disclosed.
According to Nwabuzor, the police received a report regarding the abduction of four individuals in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, on January 23. “The kidnappers allegedly collected ransom through Union Bank and Moniepoint,” he added.
Through intelligence-based investigation, Nwabuzor explained, “Aminu Sadio and Umar Aminu, who owned the accounts used for receiving the ransom, were apprehended.” Subsequently, the arrest of these two individuals led to the capture of their accomplices, Adamu Abubakar and Adamu Tahir.
An ongoing investigation is underway, Nwabuzor assured, stating, “The suspects will soon face charges in court.”
